Choosing What Lasts

In our journey of faith, we often find ourselves caught between the urgency of daily life and the eternal importance of our relationship with God. The story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42 beautifully illustrates this tension. Martha, consumed by the tasks of hospitality, becomes distracted and anxious. Mary, however, chooses to sit at Jesus' feet, listening to His teachings. This powerful narrative reminds us that while serving is good, our devotion to Christ should always come first. We're called to serve where we are, but with the right attitude - one of worship and devotion. The 'good portion' that Mary chose wasn't idleness, but rather prioritizing time with Jesus above all else. In our busy lives, are we choosing the temporary over the eternal? Are we so focused on urgent tasks that we miss important moments with God? This message challenges us to reevaluate our priorities and choose that which lasts - our relationship with Christ.
