Come and See
This powerful exploration of John 1:35-42 invites us into the transformative moment when the first disciples encountered Jesus as the Lamb of God. We witness John the Baptist's faithful proclamation pointing beyond himself to Christ, echoing through centuries of prophecy from Abraham's promise that God would provide a lamb, through the Passover lamb whose blood saved Israel, to Isaiah's vision of the suffering servant. The central truth resonates clearly: without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. What makes this passage so compelling is the disciples' response—they didn't have complete understanding or certainty, yet they left everything familiar to follow Jesus. When Christ asked them, 'What are you seeking?' He posed the question each of us must answer today. Are we seeking fulfillment, rest, truth, direction, or life itself? Jesus offers Himself as the answer to every deep longing: the bread of life for our hunger, living water for our thirst, rest for our weariness, the way when we're lost, the truth in confusion, and resurrection life in the face of death. The beautiful invitation remains: 'Come and see.' When we abide in His presence, transformation happens—just as Simon became Peter, the rock, we too are changed from the inside out.
