In the Beginning Was the Word

We stand at the threshold of eternity as we begin our journey through John's Gospel, and what we discover is breathtaking: Jesus Christ is not merely a teacher who arrived in Bethlehem, but the eternal Word who existed before time itself began. This exploration of John 1:1-3 reveals three foundational truths that transform how we understand our faith. First, Christ is eternal—He wasn't created, He simply was. When everything else started to exist, Jesus already existed. Second, He is relational—the Word was with God, face-to-face with the Father in perfect communion before creation. Third, He is fully divine—the Word was God, sharing every attribute of deity. This isn't abstract theology; it's the bedrock of our salvation. The baby in the manger is older than His mother. The carpenter from Nazareth created Nazareth itself. Every mountain, every sunrise, every molecule bears His fingerprints. When we grasp that the One we worship spoke galaxies into existence yet stepped into our story to reveal God's heart, our only response can be to fall at His feet and cry out with Thomas: 'My God and my Lord.' This understanding changes everything—our prayers become conversations with the Creator, our worship becomes an encounter with eternal divinity, and our faith stands on unshakeable ground.
